Dave Coulier Told Full House Costars About Cancer Diagnosis in a Group Text
Coulier, 62, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September 2022.
Dave Coulier, known for his role as Joey Gladstone on the sitcom Full House, revealed to Us Weekly that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September 2022.
Coulier, 62, shared the news with his Full House costars in a group text. "I got a group text from Dave, and it was just like, 'Hey guys, I gotta tell you something,'" Candace Cameron Bure, who played D.J. Tanner on the show, recalled to the outlet.
"He was like, 'I've been diagnosed with prostate cancer.' And we were all like, 'What?'" she added.
Coulier underwent surgery to remove the cancerous cells, and he is now cancer-free.
"I'm doing great," Coulier told Us Weekly. "I'm cancer-free. I'm feeling good."
Coulier's diagnosis came as a shock to his costars. "We were all so surprised," said Jodie Sweetin, who played Stephanie Tanner on Full House.
"He's always been so healthy. He's always been the one who's working out and eating right," she added.
Coulier's diagnosis is a reminder that prostate cancer can affect men of all ages. According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the United States, after skin cancer.
The good news is that prostate cancer is often curable if it is detected early. Men should talk to their doctor about getting a prostate cancer screening if they are over the age of 50 or if they have a family history of the disease.
