Eastern Notes: Simmons, Mogbo, Cavaliers, Jackson, Rollins
Simmons Looking Like the Star the Nets Expected
Once considered a possible trade candidate, Ben Simmons is starting to show why the Brooklyn Nets gave up James Harden for him. In his last five games, Simmons is averaging 17.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game. He’s also shooting 56.3% from the field. If Simmons can continue to play at this level, the Nets could be a real contender in the Eastern Conference.
Mogbo Making a Name for Himself
Precious Achiuwa may be getting most of the headlines for the Toronto Raptors, but Chris Boucher is quietly having a solid season as well. In his last five games, Boucher is averaging 14.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He’s also shooting 52.9% from the field and 40.0% from three-point range.
Cavaliers Continue to Impress
The Cleveland Cavaliers are now 20-12 on the season, which is good for third place in the Eastern Conference. Darius Garland is leading the way for the Cavaliers, averaging 20.0 points and 8.0 assists per game. Jarrett Allen is also having a solid season, averaging 16.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
Jackson Struggling in Memphis
Jaren Jackson Jr. is having a tough season for the Memphis Grizzlies. In his last five games, Jackson is averaging just 10.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He’s also shooting just 38.5% from the field and 28.6% from three-point range. The Grizzlies need Jackson to step up if they want to make a deep playoff run.
Rollins Leading the Way for the Hawks
Trae Young may be the face of the Atlanta Hawks, but it’s Dejounte Murray who is leading the team this season. In his last five games, Murray is averaging 22.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game. He’s also shooting 48.1% from the field and 38.2% from three-point range.
