The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall, which affects certain models of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra produced between 2019 and 2023.
The recall stems from a potential issue with the transmission's planetary gear, which can fracture and cause a loss of motive power while driving. GM has reported 160 warranty claims and 26 field reports related to the issue, but no crashes or injuries have been linked to the defect.
