Golden Gophers Win 23-14
The Golden Gophers improved to 2-0 this season with a 23-14 home win over the Gophers on Saturday night.
The Gophers (0-2) trailed 7-0 at the half and could not recover after being shut out in the second half. The Gophers scored their only touchdown on a 1-yard run by running back Trey Potts with 10:38 left in the third quarter.
The Golden Gophers scored 16 unanswered points after the Gophers’ touchdown to take a 23-7 lead with 9:28 left in the fourth quarter. The Gophers added a touchdown on a 1-yard run by quarterback Tanner Morgan with 1:50 left in the game.
The Golden Gophers outgained the Gophers 357-196 in total yards. The Golden Gophers also had 12 tackles for loss to the Gophers’ five.
The Gophers will look to rebound next week when they host the Purdue Boilermakers (1-1). The Golden Gophers will travel to face the Michigan Wolverines (2-0) next week.
