Japanese singer-songwriter Ichiko Aoba has announced her new album, ‘Luminescent Creatures,’ which is set for release on March 8th. The album will be her first in four years since 2019’s ‘Windswept Adan.’

The album’s lead single, "Aqueous," was released alongside the album announcement. The whimsical, dreamy song showcases Aoba’s signature ethereal vocals and acoustic guitar playing.

Aoba has also announced a tour in support of the album, which will begin in Tokyo on March 18th and conclude in Osaka on April 2nd. Tickets for the tour go on sale on January 21st.

A Deeper Dive into ‘Luminescent Creatures’

According to Aoba, ‘Luminescent Creatures’ explores themes of nature, memory, and the passage of time. She says that the album is “a collection of songs about the things that shine in the dark.”

The album features a diverse range of musical styles, from the delicate folk of "Aqueous" to the more experimental electronic sounds of "Luminescent." Aoba’s lyrics are also as poetic and evocative as ever, with a focus on the natural world and the human experience.
