Avalanche Defeat Kings 4-2
Mikko Rantanen's ninth career hat trick powered the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.
Rantanen opened the scoring with a power-play goal in the first period. He added two more goals in the second period, giving the Avalanche a 3-1 lead. Nathan MacKinnon added an empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the win.
Kings forward Adrian Kempe and defenseman Matt Roy scored goals for Los Angeles, but it wasn't enough to overcome Rantanen's offensive outburst.
