Indian batter Smriti Mandhana had a disappointing debut for the Adelaide Strikers in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL), scoring just 12 runs in her team's six-wicket loss to the Melbourne Renegades.

Mandhana, who was playing her first match in the WBBL, was dismissed in the fourth over of the Strikers' innings, caught behind off the bowling of Renegades seamer Maitlan Brown. The left-hander had faced 15 balls and hit two boundaries during her brief stay at the crease.

The Strikers made a promising start to their innings, reaching 2/70 in the 10th over. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals thereafter and were eventually bowled out for 126 in the 19th over.

The Renegades reached their target with 11 balls to spare, with opener Sophie Molineux top-scoring with 40 runs. Spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington was the pick of the Strikers' bowlers, taking 2/22 from her four overs.

The defeat leaves the Strikers with a 1-2 record after three matches in the WBBL. They will be looking to bounce back when they take on the Sydney Thunder in their next match on October 22.
