Swim and Dive Team Barely Loses
Ohio Univesity Drops Conference Duel to Miami
RedHawks Edge Bobcats by 163-137
The Ohio swimming and diving teams lost to Miami University 163-137 Saturday at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
The Bobcats started the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of junior Taite Kitchel, freshman Abbey Tuckey, senior Maggie Tucker and junior Hannah Stevens won in a time of 1:43.26.
Miami took the next two events and never trailed again.
Ohio won four individual events on the day. Kitchel won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 55.55 seconds. Tuckey won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:18.39. Tucker won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:03.30. Stevens won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:04.47.
The loss drops Ohio to 5-3 on the season while Miami improves to 4-3.
Notable Finishes
- Junior Hannah Stevens finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.47) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.23).
- Freshman Abbey Tuckey finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.30) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.39).
- Junior Taite Kitchel finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (55.55) and the 100-yard butterfly (51.27).
- Senior Maggie Tucker finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.62) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.29).
