The Trojans Seek an Undefeated Start with UT Arlington in Town
Southern California Set to Host UT Arlington for Week 3 Matchup
Following an impressive 41-28 victory over Stanford, the No. 10-ranked Southern California Trojans will look to remain undefeated as they host the UT Arlington Mavericks in Week 3 on Saturday, September 17th at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM PT and will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
Trojans Aiming for 3-0 Start
After a sluggish start against Rice in Week 1, the Trojans have found their rhythm and are now looking to open the season 3-0 for the first time since 2017. Quarterback Caleb Williams has been instrumental in the team's success, throwing for 674 yards and seven touchdowns in just two games. Running back Travis Dye has also been a key contributor, rushing for 202 yards and two touchdowns.
The Trojans' defense has also been solid, allowing just 35 points through two games. Led by linebacker Eric Gentry and cornerback Mekhi Blackmon, the defense has forced five turnovers and recorded six sacks.
UT Arlington Looking to Upset Trojans
The UT Arlington Mavericks are coming off a 20-17 victory over Nicholls State in Week 2. The Mavericks are led by quarterback signees Doug Brumfield and Jake Bleskin, who combined for 251 passing yards and two touchdowns against Nicholls State.
The Mavericks' defense has also been impressive, allowing just 17 points per game this season. Led by linebacker Grant Morgan and safety Chris Paul, the defense has forced four turnovers and recorded five sacks.
Matchup to Watch: Trojans Offense vs. UT Arlington Defense
The key matchup in this game will be the Trojans' offense against the UT Arlington defense. The Trojans have one of the most potent offenses in the country, averaging 43.5 points per game. The Mavericks' defense, however, has been strong this season, allowing just 17 points per game.
If the Trojans can continue to move the ball effectively and score points, they should be able to defeat the Mavericks. However, if the Mavericks can force turnovers and make stops on third down, they have a chance to pull off the upset.
