History of Time in Florida
Prior to 1966, Florida did not observe Daylight Saving Time. However, in 1966, the Uniform Time Act was passed by Congress, which standardized time zones and Daylight Saving Time across the United States.
In 1986, Florida passed a law exempting the counties of Bay, Calhoun, Franklin, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla, and Walton from Daylight Saving Time.
