Toledo Rockets Defeat Wright State Raiders 86-77
Rockets Win Second Straight Horizon League Game
The University of Toledo Rockets men's basketball team defeated the Wright State Raiders 86-77 on Thursday night at Savage Arena.
The Rockets (14-10, 7-5 Horizon League) won their second straight game and improved to 9-2 at home this season.
The Raiders (12-12, 5-7 Horizon League) lost their second straight game and fell to 5-7 on the road this season.
Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Rockets
The Rockets had five players score in double figures, led by junior guard RayJ Dennis with 20 points.
Junior forward JT Shumate added 17 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.
Senior guard Ryan Rollins scored 16 points, while sophomore guard Dante Maddox Jr. and junior forward Marek Polcak each scored 10 points.
Raiders Struggle From the Field
The Raiders shot just 39.3% from the field, including 29.4% from three-point range.
They were led by junior guard Andrew Welage, who scored 17 points.
Senior forward Grant Basile added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Jaylon Hall scored 15 points.
Rockets Control the Glass
The Rockets outrebounded the Raiders 45-31, including 16-7 on the offensive glass.
They also had 10 second-chance points to the Raiders' four.
Rockets head coach Tod Kowalczyk said the rebounding was a key factor in the win.
