Tornado warning issued for Southern Ontario as severe weather hits Fergus
Environment Canada has issued a tornado warning for Southern Ontario, including the town of Fergus, as severe weather moves through the region.
Residents are being urged to take cover immediately and stay away from windows. The tornado warning is in effect until 6:30 p.m. ET.
The storm is expected to bring high winds, heavy rain, and possible hail. Environment Canada is also warning of the possibility of flash flooding.
The tornado warning was issued at 5:45 p.m. ET. Environment Canada says that a tornado has been spotted near Fergus, and that it is moving east at 50 km/h.
Residents in the affected area are being urged to take shelter in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of their home. They should also stay away from windows and doors.
Environment Canada is advising residents to monitor weather updates and to be prepared to take action if a tornado warning is issued for their area.
