Trump's Defense Secretary 'Can't Remember Washing Hands Once Over Last Decade' in Bizarre Resurfaced Footage
Mark Esper served as the 25th United States Secretary of Defense from 2019 to 2020.
He made the astonishing admission during a 2016 interview with CNN.
In the clip, which has recently resurfaced on social media, Esper is asked if he washes his hands regularly.
He replies: "I can't remember the last time I washed my hands. I don't think I've washed my hands in the last decade."
The interviewer is visibly taken aback by Esper's response and asks him to clarify.
Esper repeats: "I don't think I've washed my hands in the last decade. I just don't do it."
The clip has sparked outrage and disbelief online, with many people questioning Esper's fitness to serve as Secretary of Defense.
Some have even called for his resignation, arguing that his lack of basic hygiene practices poses a serious health risk to the troops under his command.
Esper has not yet commented on the resurfaced footage.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends washing your hands frequently with soap and water to prevent the spread of germs.
Handwashing is especially important after using the bathroom, before eating, and after coming into contact with someone who is sick.
According to the CDC, proper handwashing can help reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses, such as the flu, and gastrointestinal illnesses, such as norovirus.
The CDC also recommends using hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
Hand sanitizer should be used in addition to handwashing, not as a replacement.
If you are concerned about your hand hygiene, you should talk to your doctor.
