The Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) is thrilled to announce the appointment of former Olympian and highly experienced high-performance leader, Annelise Coberger, as its new Chief Executive Officer.

With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the sports industry, Coberger is well-equipped to lead the VIS in its mission to support and develop Victoria's elite athletes and coaches.

Coberger's impressive career includes competing at the Olympic Games in rowing, where she represented Australia at the 2004 Athens Games.

Following her Olympic career, Coberger transitioned into sports administration, holding senior leadership roles at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Gymnastics Australia.

In her most recent role as General Manager of Performance at the AIS, Coberger was responsible for developing and implementing high-performance strategies and programs.

VIS Chair, David Howman AM, welcomed the appointment, saying Coberger's experience and passion for sport would be invaluable to the organization.

"Annelise is a highly respected leader in the Australian and international sports community," Howman said.

"Her proven track record in developing and implementing successful high-performance programs will be a major asset to the VIS as we strive to continue to support our athletes and coaches in achieving their goals."

Coberger expressed her excitement at joining the VIS, saying she was looking forward to working with the team to drive sporting success in Victoria.

"The VIS has a long and proud history of supporting athletes and coaches in achieving their full potential," Coberger said.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to lead such a respected organization and I look forward to working with the team to build on the VIS's success and continue to make a positive impact on Victorian sport."

Coberger will commence her role as CEO of the VIS on March 27, 2023.
