Bolton: Gaetz 'not qualified' for any administration position

Gaetz has been under fire for his ties to white nationalists and his defense of the January 6th insurrection.

Former national security adviser John Bolton said that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) "must be the worst" Cabinet nomination "in American history."

Bolton made the comments in an interview with CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday.

"I can't think of anybody who is less qualified for any position in the administration, let alone a Cabinet position," Bolton said.

Bolton's comments come after Gaetz was nominated by President Donald Trump to be secretary of the Navy.

Gaetz has been under fire for his ties to white nationalists and his defense of the January 6th insurrection.

Bolton said that Gaetz's nomination is "a sign of how desperate the Trump administration is."

"They're just throwing people out there who are unqualified and who have no experience," Bolton said.

Bolton's comments are likely to add to the pressure on Gaetz to withdraw his nomination.

A number of Republican senators have already said that they will not vote to confirm Gaetz.

It is unclear if Gaetz will ultimately withdraw his nomination.

However, Bolton's comments are a sign that Gaetz's nomination is in serious jeopardy.
