Expectations high for Montana men, women with basketball 2024-25 season underway
Montana men look to build on NCAA Tournament appearance
The Montana Grizzlies men's basketball team is coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2023, and expectations are high for the 2024-25 season. The Grizzlies return four starters from last year's team, including All-Big Sky Conference guard Josh Bannan. Montana also added several talented transfers, including former Montana State guard Isaac Bonton. The Grizzlies are picked to finish second in the Big Sky Conference preseason poll, and they have a good chance of making another NCAA Tournament appearance.
Montana women look to continue dominance
The Montana Lady Griz basketball team has won four straight Big Sky Conference regular season championships and three straight Big Sky Conference Tournament championships with the last 2 in 2022 and 2023. The Lady Griz return three starters from last year's team, including All-Big Sky Conference guard Carmen Gfeller. Montana also added several talented freshmen, including 6-foot-3 center Mackenna Molloy. The Lady Griz are picked to win the Big Sky Conference preseason poll, and they are a good bet to make another NCAA Tournament appearance.
