Gabigol and Pedro star as Flamengo thump Atlético Mineiro to win Copa do Brasil
Flamengo won the Copa do Brasil for the fourth time in a row
Gabigol and Pedro scored in each half as Flamengo beat Atlético Mineiro 2-0 to win the Copa do Brasil for the fourth consecutive time.
The match was played at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro and was watched by a crowd of over 60,000. Flamengo took the lead in the first half through Gabigol, who scored from close range after being set up by Pedro.
Atlético Mineiro tried to get back into the game in the second half, but they were unable to break down the Flamengo defense. Flamengo then sealed the victory with a goal from Pedro in the 85th minute.
The victory is a major boost for Flamengo, who have now won four of the last five Copa do Brasil titles. It is also a major disappointment for Atlético Mineiro, who were looking to win their first Copa do Brasil title since 2014.
Flamengo will now turn their attention to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, where they are currently in second place, two points behind Palmeiras.
