Jaxson Hayes ruled out 1-2 weeks with ankle sprain in latest injury setback for Lakers
Los Angeles Lakers are dealing with another injury setback with Jaxson Hayes set to miss time with an ankle sprain
The New Orleans Pelicans have ruled Jaxson Hayes out for 1-2 weeks with a right ankle sprain, the team announced on Monday. Hayes suffered the injury in the Pelicans' 128-111 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.
Hayes has been a key part of the Pelicans' rotation this season, averaging 9.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He had his best game of the season against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Feb. 18, when he scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
The injury is a blow to the Pelicans, who are currently clinging to the 10th spot in the Western Conference. The Pelicans will now have to rely on Willy Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes' backup in the middle.
Hayes' injury is the latest in a long line of setbacks for the Lakers this season. Anthony Davis has missed several games with a foot injury, and LeBron James has been sidelined with a groin injury.
The Lakers are hoping to get healthy soon, as they are currently in the midst of a playoff push. The Lakers are currently 29-32, which is good for ninth place in the Western Conference.
